Introducing the new ICUHampy.
Every so often I find myself thinking back to the evening when I sat up and threw together ICUHampy and feel a little bit like I cheated. It took maybe two or three hours total to get the site up and running, but despite that fact it was enthusiastically taken up by Hampshire and made into something great. The enthusiasm caught me off guard from the beginning, filling me with feelings of excitement, fear, and guilt. The excitement and fear wore off in time, but the guilt stayed around because when I was being honest with myself I knew the site could be so much better than it was. Now, mainly due to the hard work put in by some very talented students, I can proudly to announce the new www.icuhampy.com without feeling like I’ve cut any corners.
Lonelyhearts now have the ability to post to the site in a much more specific way, to search past posts, and to be contacted anonymously through the site. All these additions and changes are in some form based off of comments made by the student body, so I’m confident that you will all enjoy the new site, since it has been designed to your specifications. ICUHampy has always been your site, and now it is to an even greater degree.
Launching this new site also means closing down the old .tumblr site. As I see it now, this will be the last post ever made on the site but it will be kept live to serve as an archive of Hampshire College missed connections from 2012. I don’t know if it will ever be used that way, but to be honest it doesn’t really matter. I’m really just keeping it up because I’m bad at goodbyes.
